IU Research and Technology Corporation
The Indiana University Research and Technology Corporation (IURTC) is a not-for-profit agency that facilitates industry–Indiana University research and technology collaborations. IURTC stimulates growth in Indiana’s technology sectors by helping companies develop commercially viable technology, with the ultimate goal of creating jobs and growing the state’s economy.
The IURTC, formerly known as ARTI (Advanced Research & Technology Institute) was founded by Indiana University in 1997. IURTC was formed to handle all IU intellectual property, trademarks, and business development activities as well as to hold equity in corporations as part of licensing deals. IURTC has a contract with Indiana University for the functions of Technology Transfer, the former Industrial Research Liaison Program (IRLP), Licensing and Trademarks, Corporate Development, Kelley Executive Partners (KEP), and the IU Research Park.
In 2002, IURTC purchased a building with the IU Foundation to found the Indiana University Emerging Technologies Center (IUETC), a biotechnology business incubator dedicated to forming and nurturing new businesses in the life and health sciences. The building was completed on September 1, 2003 and currently houses 21 tenants.
Our mission is to help companies bring new technology to the marketplace and support technology based economic development throughout Indiana and the nation. We’re also dedicated to enhancing the research and development capability of Indiana University, creating new companies, and providing support for entrepreneurial development.
